Enviro-Friendly Enano PC Claims To Be World’s Smallest

8 March, 2007 (13:34) | Tech Stuff | By: DesiBaba

The word Enano, as I learned it, actually means dwarf. But, we imagine the company probably had a different connotation in mind, perhaps more like “small or tiny”. Whatever the case, Enano Computers are indeed damn small, and energy efficient to boot. Matter of fact, that’s their whole point: some models consume as little as 20-25W, around as much as a laptop, and much less than an average desktop. They’re also tiny, at 6 X 6 X 2 inches. The company is proud to have achieved such low power consumption, and are positioning their products to attract the environmentally conscious crowd.

Not only are the Enano PC’s small, they pack half decent features too, running mostly Intel Core2 Duo processors, between 512MB and 1 Gig of RAM and between 40GB and 120GB of hard drive space. Sure, we’re not talking high-end gaming rigs here, but it’s not everyone that’s after that. If you’re looking for decently priced ($750 to $1,300), green and tiny PC’s, Enano sure sounds like it should be worth a look.

Rain-Proof, Wind-Proof, Bullet-Proof And Stab Proof Jacket

8 March, 2007 (11:34) | Gizmo/Gadgets | By: DesiBaba

stab_proof_weather_proof_jacket.jpgIt seems all the hysteria about the white iPod headphones making you an obvious target for thieves has finally blown over but let’s face it, it’s still a dangerous world out there. So if you prefer to live in a constant state of paranoia might Desibaba suggest never going outside unless you’re wearing this non-descript black jacket. Besides keeping the rain from getting through it’s also quite good at stopping knives, hypodermic needles, broken bottles and even a wide assortment of bullets.

The jacket is made from 100% polyester canvas with a PU-coating on the reverse and at 3 kilograms it isn’t abnormally heavy either. Most people won’t even know you’re ready to start and easily survive even the most brutal of bar fights.

The downside of all this protection though is that the jacket will set you back just over $2,000 ironically making it the most valuable thing a would-be thief could steal from you.

Desibaba really loves the concept :) But a bit expensive from a simple black jacket ;)

Are You Going To Watch Nishabd?

7 March, 2007 (08:34) | Bollywood | By: DesiBaba

If you are an Amitabh Bachchan fan, you should probably watch this movie. He is in a total different role in this movie and he performs well. As you would already know, he is playing a character of a family man who falls in love with his daughter’s friend. The ending kinds of surprises you but nothing in the movie is shocking.

Jiah Khan. Duh. I am not sure what Ramu wanted to portray her as. I am pretty confused now that I have seen the movie. I would not like her featured in any more movies.

Aaftab Shivdasani. Makes a cameo appearance. I am not sure what Ramu sees in him. He is a worthless actor. And he still manages to get some decent roles!

Revathi. She performs well as the wife of Mr. Bachchan. But her portrayal of a wife who really could not see what actually was happening in her house is somewhat unbelievable. It is also surprising to see that she was once the heroine of Salman Khan in a movie! I remember seeing another movie with her playing the wife of Nana Patekar.

Rukhsar. Plays the deglamorised role of the daughter of Mr. Bachchan in the movie. Simple role. She does a decent job. Could have given a bigger role. But then the focus was on Amitabh and Jiah.

Movie has been shot pretty brilliantly. But too much focus on the female leading character in the movie is somewhat disappointing. Not really a movie I had like to watch again. Even on television. Should be added to the different offbeat movies.

One thing more. Amitabh Bachchan sings a song for the soundtrack of the movie. However, the song seems to be missing from the movie itself. We just get to hear some of it as the background score. Amitabh does sing a besura song in the movie. And surprisingly, it’s one of the songs featuring Shah Rukh Khan. I could relate this to the recent controversies raised by the media concerning the two stars. But then, the song contains the name of the character Jiah Khan plays in the movie.

British beauty Elizabeth Hurley was so overcome with emotion when she wed her Indian born beau Arun Nayar that she cried the whole day.

liz_arun.jpg The ‘Bedazzled’ star gave celeb watchers a surprise when she married Nayar on March 2 – a day before the date printed on the wedding cards – in a private ceremony with just two witnesses.

But that still didn’t stop the former Estee Lauder model from tearing-up on March 3, the day she tied the knot with Nayar in front of family and friends at Sudeley Castle in the UK.

“I’ve been crying all morning — I can’t stop,” the Sun quoted Hurley, as telling pals.

During the ceremony on March 3, Hurley, encased in a Versace gown designed by pal Donatella Versace, was given away by good pal Sir Elton John, who also performed a personalised version of ‘Your Song’ for her and Nayar.

The couple spent a day in the UK before leaving for India on Sunday night, where their traditional Hindu marriage ceremony will be taking place.

And while they have decided to hold parties throughout the time they are in Nayar’s native country, the main ceremony will be taking place at the Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Hurley will be wearing a pink sari created by celeb designer Tarun Tahiliani for the traditional ceremony.

And, new hubby Arun had just the perfect gift for his bride, when he presented her with an 8,500 pounds diamond choker that Hurley spotted at posh jewellers Maharani on an earlier visit to Mumbai.

“Arun came back in and wrote out a cheque,” a source said.

Here are some great pics of Hollywood Star Elizabeth Hurley.

Popular televison anchor Mandira Bedi will again dazzle viewers during the coverage of the Cricket World Cup next month.

This time she will drape sarees, specially designed by fashion house Satya Paul.

The five saris will be auctioned by online website eBay after the mega event and will include flags of the participating nations, signatures of players, a red cricket ball, newspaper mastheads and cricket figurines.

The collection, which has been titled ‘Bowled On The Run-Way’, will be auctioned and its proceeds will be donated to a charitable organisation Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) association, which looks after disabled artists.

“For the first time I will be wearing saris that have been designed on the cricketing theme. I am also very happy to be part of a good cause,” said Mandira, a function organised to unveil the collection in New Delhi on Friday.

eBay also announced the launch of their Cricket Mania campaign to support the Indian team during their World Cup campaign. It will also donate Rs 5 to MFPA for every ‘Go India Go’ wristband that is auctioned during the event.
